NYE Edit

I don’t want to assume that every girl out there is in the same situation as me, but I am pretty sure in about 2.5 days we all will be in the I-have-nothing-to-wear state of mind. With all the food devoured and all the soul cycle classes skipped (because you were too busy shopping those online sales) that sequin mini dress you pledged to wear at the start of 2016 might as well wait out another year/ another New Years resolution.

And then, there is this whole new sleuth of fabrics and trends one can choose from this year making things even worse. With Velvet making a come back, metallics staying ever strong and sequins never left the scene, what should one settle for?

I have narrowed down to 5 trends I am nodding towards this NYE:

  1. Metallics
  2. Velvet
  3. Fringe
  4. Sequin
  5. Feather

Metallics:

Pair the trend with classics like pumps and a basic turtleneck. And since its your final good bye to 2016 might as well add that little oomph and put on your favorite statement jewels.

Velvet:

Velvet is definitely fabric of the year and there is no denying it has taken over all our closet staples from joggers to shoes. Play up a velvet top with a pair of printed booties and cropped flared jeans.

Fringe

Fringe instantly takes us back to the 70’s and can easily become too costume-y if taken too literally. Since we will be celebrating New Years and not Halloween its crucial to keep the accessories minimal and more modern to avoid any further confusions on your sartorial status.

Sequin:

The number one trend for all New Year Eves is metallics. When all else fails, sparkles it is! Why not pair it with metallic accessories and basic heels to keep the bling under control.

Feathers:

Surely my favorite! Pair a feather skirt with a classic slouchy sweater (brownie points for winter friendly attire) and a pair of booties or classic pumps. Or why not go all out and wear a fully feathered dress, after all it is the last thing you will wear in 2016.

Michael Kors Feather Embellished Chantilly Lace Mini Dress

Jason Wu Feather-Embellished Voile Skirt
